Mr. Wright died of apoplexy at his home in Cantón, St. LttwrMtóe Co., on tlie'tli ult. Hisagewas52. lie was a native of Massnchusctts, but was cduca!ed in Vermont. Mis Falher was a shoemaker by trade, but afterwards settled on a farm. Silas studied law in Cantón, and four years after bis siudies were conciudeil, he wns elected to the Senate of New York. Three years ofler, in 1826, he vvas elected Representative lo Congreso, and in 1833 he succeeded Gov. Marcy as Senator.
