The New York correspondence of the Syracuse Star, repons the following : "A curious caso is now beforethe Surrogate, of which the following is the outline : A Tui'kish gentleman, accompanied by his ihree wives and children orrived in this city some y e ars ago. Being possessed of property, he purchased in Hue time fthat is, after he and they had become naíurnlizedj a house for each of them. A short time since !ie died without making a will, leaving a property ofab mt one hundred thousand dollars. The wives have applied for letters of ndministration in behalf of themselves and children. The Surrogate is puzzoled ; ho does not see liow he can graut Ihem to three wives at once, but lie thinks he ouglit to grnnt thern to the one married first. But in Turkish marriage there is no distinction beiween first and Jast, evn if the niimber of vvives arnount to a thousnnd nnd more. Ifone wifo weve to be admitted to administer, it 'vould have the eílect of mak ing t he otlier Uvo, his coucubines orily, and their children lletcitimate, and neither llie wivos. nor children wouki be entiiled to receive any ofliis property. VV'liat decisión will ultimntely be come to, I cannot say, but I believe they ought lo be considered wives to cummon, and letters granied lo tliem conjot;t}y. But vvht vvould our íliir country women soy tothis? Why, thcy would most Lkely sny tliey are noiliing but Turkish wives
