We have before us the official returns; of the election in the Scond Congressonal District. Tlie figures read thiis : By footing them, t wül be seen Ihat 273 of what are here classed as "scattering" votes, were designed n good faith for Mr. Denison, and added to the regular tickcls, make an aggregate of 763 Liberty votes in the District. How this will compare with ihe vote for Governor in these counties we know not : but as the vote for Husssy in this District last year was 1127, it is evident that 359 Liberty men eitlier staid at home, or voted for some other candidntas. Tiiis rénilt of the election, lnmenfable as il is for the cause of freedom, confiims the truth of our statement made previous to the election, that although some Liberty men might be seduerd from the support of iheir worihy candidato, by VVhig devicM, vet cnovgh conld not be had bv ni) avowed pro-slavery Whiglike Gordon (o secure his election. This is true of ths whole Siate; and Whigs who are disposed to fish for Liberty voles may learn a Iesson from Mr. Gordon's repealed defeats. The vote of the District last yenr was, for Bradley, 9,515 ; for Gordon, 8,678 ; for Hussey, 1,127 ; Scnttering, 34.
