f 5 HE underaigned would inform the public tha .- thcy continue to mcnufacture Horse Pow ers nnd Threshino Machines, two and a hal miles from the village of Ann Arbor, on the rail ro;id. The Horse l'ower is a late inyention by S W. Foster, and is decidcdly superior to any othe ever oilbred to the public, as will appear by the statements of those who huve used them during t!ie i.ist year. It is light in weight and sniall il compasd, bcing carried together with ihe TJircsh er, in a comnion waggor. box, and drawn with ease by two horses. Jt is as hule Hable to break or get out of repair, as any other Horse Power and will work as easy und thrash as much witl four horses attached 10 it as any other power witl Jlvc horses, as will appear from the recommendations below. New patterns have been made for the cast Iron, anil additional weiglit and strengt! applied wherever it had appeared to be necessary trom obo year's use of the machine. The subsenbers decm it proper to state, that a number of' horse powers were so!d last year in the villagoof Ann Arbor which were believed by the purchasers to be thoso invemed by S. W. Foster, and that most or all of them were either made tnaterially different, or altercd beibre sold, so as to bo inaterially different from thoso made and sold by the subscribers. Such alterations being decicieilly detnmema'. to the utiüty of the machine. Thcy have good reason to believe that cvery one of thoso returned by t!ie purchasers as unsatisfactory were of this clnss. They are not aware that any Power thntwent from their shop, and was put in use, ns they innde it, has been condemned or laid asideas a bad machine. All who wish t. buy are invited to examine them and to enquire of those who have uscd them. - There will bc one lor examination at N. H.Wing's, Dextcr vülagc; and one at Martin Willson's storehouso in Detroit - both these gentlemen jeing agente for the sale of them. The price will be $120 for a four horse power, with a threshing machine, with a stave or wooden ar cylinder; and $30 for a horse power with a hreshing machine with an iron bar cylinder. The attention of the reader is ínvited to tlie folowing recommendations. S. W. FOSTER & CO. Scio, April 20, 1842. RECOMMENDA TI0N8. This is to certify that wa have used one of S iV. Fúster's newly inven ted Horse Powers for about five months, and threshed with it about 3J00 bushels, and believe it is constructed on cUct principies than any other Horse Power. Jne of the undersigned has owned and used eight ifferent kinds of Horse Powers, and we believe that four horses will thrash as much with this Power as fivc will with any other power with which we re acquainted. H. CASE, S. G. IVES. Scio, January, 12, 1842. This is to inform the public that I have purchascd, and have now in uae, one of the Horse Powers recently invented by S W. Foeter, made by S. VV. Foster, &Co., and believe it be construct sd upon better principies, and requires lesa slrength of horses than any otber power with which I am acquainted.A. WEEKS. Mount Clemen3, Sept. 8, 1841. This is to inform the pnblic that I have purchaaed oneof the Horse Powers, recemly invented by S. W. FoBter, and usad it for a number of months, and believe it ia the best power in use, working with less strength of horsRs than any oiher power with which I am acquainted, and being email m compasa, is easily moved from one place to another. 1 believe 4 horses will thresh as much with this power as 5 will with any other power. The plan and the working of this power have been'universally approvod of by formers for whom I have thrashed. E. S. SMITH. Seto, April 11, 1842. The subscribers makevery good SMUT MACHINES which they wiU sell for $60. This machine was invented by one of the subscribers, who has had many year's experiencein the niilling business. We invite those who wish to buy a good machine for a fair price to buy of ns. It is worth as much as most of tha machines that cost from 150 to $300. S. W. FOSTER & CO. Scio, April, 18, 1842. Woollen Manufactory. The subscribers have recenily put in operation a woollen manufactory for manufacturing woollen i cloth by power looms, two and a half miles west from Arm Arbor village, on the raüroad, where they wish to manufacture wool into cloth on shares, or for pay by the yard, on reasonable terms. They huve employed experienced workmen and feel confident that work will be well done. They therefore respectfully ask a share of public paironagc, especially from those who are in favor of home inddstry. Wool may be left at Scio village. S. W. FOSTER & Co. Scio, April 18, 1842.
