Liberty Congressional Convention--First District
Pursnanc to previous notice, the Liberty Party of the First Congressional District asembled in Convention in the Baptist Church, n Clinton, on the 17th instant. The Conention was called to order by C. H. Stewirt, of Detroit, and G Beckley of Washtenaw, vas called to the chair, and G. W. Bancroff, f Lena wee, was chosen Secretary. It was then moved that we proceed to an nformal ballot for a candidale for Repr?senative to Congress, to be supported by the -.berty party at. tiie ensuing election. The Uonventior: then proceeded to an informal balot, and upon c.invassing the votos, it was bund thot they had been given unanimouslv br A. L. Porter. Wliereupon Dr. Arthur j. Porter, of Detroit, was declared the camJiate of tlieLibercy party for the first District. On motionof C. IL Stewart, Resolved, That in case a vaconcy should iccurin coiiáequence of the decünation of Dr. Jorter, or otherwise, it shall be fllled by the 3orresponding Commiitee. Rf solved, That 'Je proceedings of tliis Confention be published io the Sinal of Liberty.
