Ann Arbor Debating Society
An institution of this name, has been in successful operation in the Lower Town about 4 months, lts members are most 1 y mechanics, The meetings of the Society are held on Saturday evenmgs, in a room provided bv the munificence of Dr. Ormsby, tlie same as occupied on Tuesday evenings, by the Mechanics' Temperance Association. The questions discussed by the members, are chiefly of a moral, feligious, and political charactér. The importance and pleasure of an easy and skilful expression of thought need no illustratiomand we cannottoohighly speak of the commendable, and we may add successful effbrts, made by gentlemen connecied with the society in that respect. Fevv.there are, who hare not suffered from eriibarrassraent and want of practical knowledge in speaking, and any endeavor to surmount such difBculties, deserves the warmest encouragement. - These meetings, we undersiand, areopen to all and we trust the ladies and gentlemen of our town will give them frequent attendance.
