Messrs. Editors: - Feeling a deep interest in the great and soul inspiring cause, to which your high tonèd "Signal" is devoted; and in compliance with the request of the "Western Michigan Christian Conference," I would here forward for publication a Resolution which was unanimously adopted at our annual session, held in Sandstone, July Ist, 1844. Resolved, That we heartilv disapprove of the systetn of Southern and will use our best ability to accomplish the immediote emancipatiorï of the downtrodden and oonressed.Moderator. Willjam'Smxth, Sec'y. I would add, the cause, spirit and principie of Liberty are on the march in Western notwithsítanding the eflbrts of political demagogues to raise an e.xcitemerit iri favor of the unprincipled slaVe br'eeding cáñdidatés1 of the South. You need not féarfhe Banner aVíII triumphantly wave so súYe as thére is a God,, and any sense of libërty and éqüál rights among thé American people. The standing political partie are waning, whiife candid reflectirig' minda ai-e fast seèing thé demand for cohsriiëriöë and principie át' thé as-■-_ Where. I trust that all who feel anxious to lend a helping hand in this great work of philanthropy, cannot be duped by office seekers, or fair speeches, to strengthen the chains of slavery at the coming contest. Yours for the Slave, R. A. BURGESS. Spring Arbor, July 10, 1844.
