Poetry: Our Cause
Our father's sworcls are dark with rust, They hang suspended by ihe wall, In them we do not put our tr ust, For r i glit is stroirer than lliPtn all, Anti, knowing t.hat our cause is just, We do not fear thal it will fall. -We feel 's 'y st because we know "That p.ll men are crealed free," And have ihe right to come and go, _Ar,d think and sx ak as well as we, And God says, "do In oihers sn, . As thou wouldst have tlieni do lo thee." All men are but one brotherhood, Déicèirdd from our common sirp, So should euch seek llie common good And to no olher end aspiro; For tii is it was our futhers stood The rapid charge - the deadly fire. Our brother we would not dep ive Of rig-lus which God to all has given, And to retore Itia rights we'il álrivc Until h iron bonds ai e nven, And he, with extacy ulive, Breathes, frer-, the ioaltny air of Heaven.
