We learn that atthe special election of clerk, in Ka!arno2oof Murritt C. Cobb, the Whig candidato, was chosen. Thí vote stood Tor Cobb, Whig, 729;Gilbert, Dem., 570;- -Eastman, Ab. 118 -Cobb over Gilbert, 159.- F. Press. (E5 By the politeness of the Superintendent of Public Tnst ruction, we have received a copy of his annual report to the Legislatura. We have given it a basty examination, and think well ofmany of its suggestions. He proposes to introduce into the comnoon schools, to be taught as ordinary branche, Book Keeping, Composrtion, Elocution, Music, and some knowledge of Agriculture. The Report also ciinlain8 a lengthy argument for the use of the Bible in common schools. Ahn Abbob, Jan. 24, 1845. The Wheat market remaing about the stme as Inst week. From 70 to 75 cents is offered by buyera. Corn is worth 37J cents. Oátí bring 11 cents cash . The weather is moderate. It alternately freezes and thawe, and travelling i good.
