We learn that atthe special election of clerk, in Ka!arno2oof Murritt C. Cobb, the Whig candidato, was chosen. Thà vote stood Tor Cobb, Whig, 729;Gilbert, Dem., 570;- -Eastman, Ab. 118 -Cobb over Gilbert, 159.- F. Press. (E5 By the politeness of the Superintendent of Public Tnst ruction, we have received a copy of his annual report to the Legislatura. We have given it a basty examination, and think well ofmany of its suggestions. He proposes to introduce into the comnoon schools, to be taught as ordinary branche, Book Keeping, Composrtion, Elocution, Music, and some knowledge of Agriculture.
