In presenting Wm. S. Elliot, and David T. Nicklbson, na candidates to be supported by the friends of liberty in Cassnnd Van Bu ren Gounties as Representatives to our next Legislatura, ït is duc to our nominees to say that their talent, principies, and reputa! ion combined, ore not to be rival led in Cass or Van Buren Counties by ony proslavery neigbbore. 'I hey are of that c)ass fhe best calco latcd to enact good and wliulcsome laws. - They are of that clasa who compose the bone and sinew of our land, the Farmers. Their object in sustaining the Liberty standard ia tocarry out the true Democratie principies - to sostnin equal nnu inalienable rigbts to nll. - As Mr. Elliot has heretolbre bren before the ptibüc, 1 ehall say no more of liim tlian lliat he is a Liberty man lo the core. Mr. Nicklrson has long officiuted ns the Justice of the Pence, ns vvell as well as filhng otlier ïniportanl stations. Uis influence is Telt as lar as b is known which is to Rome extent. He is a man of few words but well chosen: hU remarks nre like apples of gold in pictures of süver. We teel a deligbt in calling on our Liberty friendfl, nnd those who are uell wishers to the oppressed, lo their country, and to themsclves, to pustain euch men, feoling assured they wonld do honor to themselvcs, their coun',ry -and their constituents were they olected. Let every man encourage his fellow, hold up each otlters hands, cast your vote for freedom, let freeaom bo yonr motto. - Tf your vote counts but onc in your town, it wil] find company in e County fcat. Vote, friende and see to it that you vote right. It was reccntly publicly, jn6tly remarkcd by one of our proslavery Jndges of thid county, that no man wns fit for society who woujd not enstain everv benevolent instilution. Cast your eycs around, fellow -citizens, nd see if you con find a moro benevolent institution than ihat which nims at Liberty and Equal Rights. It was for them our forefothers fouglit, bied and died. Who, then, but a barbarían would tnrnish the slandard of Liberty? Better to ptond neutral if there can befound neutral giound to stand on, than to f-u&tain a flaveholding viper, for in sustaining a slaveholder you sustain Slavery with all ís combined evils.
